A winter storm is forecast to bring snow and Ice to numerous airports in the U.S. Mid Atlantic Region. JFK, EWR and IAD could be affected with delays and cancellations effecting both Trans Atlantic and Domestic flights.
Airports reopening on Eastern Seaboard
After another two days of winter snow storms most airports are resuming normal operations effective Thursday 22nd March. Delays are showing on outbound flights but inbound seem to be OK. Airlines are dealing with the backlog of freight and will hopefully have cleared this by the weekend

Hurricane Irma heading for Florida Airlines closing down
Hurricane Irma, a Category 5 storm being called one of the most powerful Atlantic Ocean hurricanes ever recorded, is headed toward Florida. For the safety of our customers, employees and partners, and due to the predicted effects of the storm on transport via air and ground, United Cargo is temporarily closing our freight facilities and restricting all acceptance and movement of freight and mail in four Florida cities. • Facility closings and restrictions apply in Miami International Airport (MIA), Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) and Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers (RSW)
• United Cargo Freight Facilities in MIA, FLL, PBI and RSW are all temporarily closing, and shipments will not be accepted or terminated until further notice

The most powerful Atlantic Ocean hurricane in recorded history is battering the Caribbean islands, as British tourists are evacuated from the region amid warnings the storm will be “potentially catastrophic”.
The island of Barbuda was the first to bear the brunt of Hurricane Irma– a category five storm with winds of 185mph – early on Wednesday, churning along a path pointing to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba before possibly hitting Florida over the weekend.

USPS UPDATE — Oroville Dam Evacuations Continue to Impact Mail Delivery
SACRAMENTO DISTRICT – Mandatory evacuations of nearly 200,000
residents were imposed in eight California cities after a hole in an
emergency spillway at the Oroville Dam threatened to flood the
surrounding area. These evacuations are impacting operations at a number
of post offices.
“We apologize for this inconvenience to our customers,” said Ashleigh
Rodriguez, Manager of Post Office Operations for Sacramento District.
“But we are making every attempt to make mail available for customer
pick up where conditions are safe.”
The Sacramento District serves ZIP Codes 936-938, 942, 952, 953 and 956-960 in northern California.
